Pizza Dough

This has been my go to pizza dough recipe for some many years I don’t even remember where it originated from  I’ve also used it for everything from pizza and calzones to artisanal flatbreads, garlic bread and bread sticks. It’s versatile, reliable, freezes well and never disappoints. I’ve also substituted instant yeast for sourdough discard and various dry herbs to the dough for the same delish results. I use a kitchen aid mixer for my dough but you could also knead by hand

2.5 cups of flour

1 tbsp instant yeast

1 tsp sea salt

1 cup warm water

2 tbsp olive oil

Start with 1.5 cups of flour in your mixer bowl

Add instant yeast and sea salt

Next add warm water quickly followed by olive oil and start mixer on low

Add remaining cup of flour into mixer over 30 seconds

Mix until it pulls from the sides of the bowl, dough will be slightly sticky

Roll into ball and place on floured cutting board, cover with a tea towel, for 15-20 mins

Split dough into two and stretch into whatever shape pizza you desire and add toppings as you wish

Bake at 450 degrees for 15 mins

* I’ve also made this pizza on a stone on the BBQ for a wood open taste
